An architectural project for a studio end of my freshman year. We were told that we had a lot to those dimensions with walls that high and we could not exceed 1 story. So pretty much we could do whatever we wanted... inside a box. haha. Also the prof made it tricky with all these things like it is in Palm Springs ( basically a desert) and we have to design it to be comfortable without air conditioning. Of course it has to be up to ADA standards.

I also really love her attention to detail in this one, with the inclusion of even a barbecue grill in the foreground!" (Suggested by =Exillior and Featured by `Kitten-of-Woe)

Wow. Thank you sooo much. I only wish my studio professor was as impressed as you are.

Very nice. I really like how you did the rock cracked ground. Nice style. ;)

Indeed very nice. I think you took it a little too far with what appears to be utensils on the outdoor barbeque, but on a bigger scale the texturing of the floor is beautiful and of course the lighting gives it such a warm feel. For future architectural models I think you can be less direct and more representational - I'm guessing thats something along the lines of what your studio prof said as well.

question: are those walls binding the site supposed to be in the actual building? It would be quite uncomfortable there with the heat buildup if those three walls were actually there...
:iconsibbysibby:
Why thank you. Unfortunately I was in a class of overachievers who like to do things down to the very last detail. If I had it my way I wouldn't have put the barbeque there at all. There actually is another mesh wall that goes in front of the outdoor eating area partially protecting it from the road... for future reference.

Also I am a Junior now and am getting the hang of things more- I just haven't posted any of my more recent projects yet.

The walls binding the site were required. The building of course has its own wall and does not use the property privacy walls in its structure. I guess I am a bit confused by what you mean it "in the actual building". As to heat the walls are indeed thick (perhaps adobe type material) with windows that open and are facing the prevailing wind. The wind also crosses my water feature to add moisture to the air to cool everything down even more. I am kinda doing a thermal mass building since it is in the desert so that during the day the walls slowly soak up the heat and by night time the heat is released into the building. Same with nighttime cooling... saved until daytime. .... If that was what your question was about...

stunning model! what do your drawings look like?!

it'd be really good to see how you got to this design, to see the progression from concept to finality... :)

fantastic design for small studio flats for the greek island resorts,,,,very sunny and well ventilated , specially if you wall is only at the back :) Looks warm, clean, blends easily with almost any backround, not expensive to build and very elegant to see and seems to me to stay in it :)
